Muloobinba Family Services provides support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families located in the Newcastle & Lake Macquarie local government areas

Family Support provides support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families, with children between the ages of 0-12 years, located in the Newcastle & Lake Macquarie local government areas

Our program aims to

  • Individual support at home, our office, or a location that is comfortable for families to enhance positive parenting and living skills

  • With the family we set goals, highlighting their strengths and needs

  • Support for families experiencing domestic violence, mental health difficulties, and/or financial hardship

  • Information and advice, advocacy and referrals to relevant services and support to access these services

  • Day to day living skills such as budgeting, healthy meal planning, and routines

  • Structured parenting programs including Triple P and Circle of Security

  • Supported Playgroups

  • Assistance to pay your energy bills through EAPA (Energy Accounts Payment Assistance)during financial hardship

  • Our program assists with short term support to strengthen families in our community and to enhance relationships with their children

  • Our program is funded through the Department of Communities and Justice

Youth Support provides support to young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander youth in the Newcastle & Lake Macquarie local government areas, aged between 13-18 years of age.

Our program aims to

  • Build social capacity of young people by developing trusting and positive relationships in the community

  • Build on young people’s cultural identity and explore opportunities to connect them with their Aboriginal community

  • Support school connectedness and engagement

  • Support young people to make positive choices

  • Advocate on behalf of young people and support them to have a voice

  • Assist young people to develop effective strategies to overcome barriers

  • Assist young people to access supports and services in the community

  • Our program is funded through the Department of Communities and Justice
