SAY Night Patrol -
Now accepting Expressions of Interest
The Safe Aboriginal Youth – SAY Program is a community-led initiative designed to keep our young people safe, supported, and connected to culture. Through a night patrol bus service, the SAY Program provides Aboriginal young people with a safe ride to a safe place and helps reduce risks for those who may otherwise be left vulnerable on the streets at night.
What the SAY Program Does:
Provides transport and supervision for Aboriginal young people at night
Offers a safe, culturally strong alternative for those at risk
Strengthens community safety across Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, and Port Stephens
Connects young people with positive role models from their own community
The SAY Program currently patrols across:
Newcastle
Lake Macquarie
Port Stephens
To Express your Interest please apply via the form below or email through an application (download here) to admin@muloobinba.org.au
Patrol Schedule
Night patrols are conducted:
Thursdays and Fridays
8:00 pm – 2:00 am (6-hour shifts)
Operated by two Aboriginal community members each shift
Important: Patrol nights and times may change in response to community demand. The program adapts to where young people most need support.
Join the SAY Program Night Patrol
We are seeking Aboriginal community members to join the SAY Program roster. This is an opportunity to make a direct impact in the lives of Aboriginal young people and contribute to community safety.
Requirements:
A valid Working With Children Check (or willingness to obtain)
Willingness to undertake a National Criminal Record Check
Preferably a current Unrestricted Driver’s Licence - competent driving a 12-seater bus (this isn’t a requirement and community members without licenses are still encouraged to apply, as we can go ahead as long as we have one driver on each shift).
