Young Parenting Support

The Parenting Support project provides a service to young Aboriginal families/individuals up to the age of 25 with children between the ages of 0-5 years.

The young parenting support project is delivered in the Newcastle & Lake Macquarie Local Government Areas.

The project provides the following support:

  • Individual support at home, officer or a location that is comfortable for families
  • Assist parents to enhance positive parenting skills
  • Group work that is centrally located in both Newcastle & Lake Macquarie LGA’s
  • Structured parenting programs including child behavioural issues
  • Advocacy, information, advice and referrals to appropriate services
  • The young parenting Support Project assists young families with short term supports to enhance their relationship with their children.

The project is funded through the Aboriginal, Child, Youth and Family Strategy, Family & community Services
