Nikinpa Aboriginal Child & Family Centre, offers a comprehensive early education and care service for children aged from 6 weeks to 6 years.
Nikinpa Children’s Service provides a culturally appropriate stimulating environment in which children can learn, laugh, play and grow. Our educators value your child/ren and their contribution, are nurturing and respond respectfully to all children and families. Like our culture the Nikinpa community is built around relationships. The best outcomes are achieved for your child when we, you and Nikinpa educators work together.
Nikinpa offers both long day care and preschool programs.
Long day care is open from 8:15am to 5:15pm 48 weeks each year. Long day care caters for children aged from 6 weeks to school aged. Quality meals are provided to children attending long day care, but parents are required to supply their bottles and formula or breast milk for very young children.
Nikinpa Preschool operates from 8:30 to 4pm, four days a week during school terms and is available for children aged 3 to 6. Children attending preschool are required to bring their own healthy lunches each day. The preschool also facilitates a comprehensive transition to school program for children attending Kindergarten next year.
We also have a playgroup on Monday mornings of school terms from 9 – 11. Parents are welcome to bring their children under school age. Come and have a cuppa and a yarn and spend some time with your children in our environment. Morning tea is provided
We base your child’s learning on their interests and the Early Years Learning Framework. The framework guides our practice by detailing principles, practices and outcomes that we will support your child to achieve throughout their time with us. More information about the Early Years Learning Framework can be found at https://docs.education.gov.au/system/files/doc/other/belonging_being_and_becoming_the_early_years_learning_framework_for_australia.pdf
Australia has a set of National Quality Standards that services must adhere to. Each Education and Care serve is required to develop and implement a Quality Improvement plan that addresses the work the service plans to do in the near future. This ensures all services are actively working towards continually improving the quality of the service they are delivering to children and families. Nikinpa has recently been assessed against the National Standards and will publish the rating once it has been finalised. More information abou the national standards can be found here http://www.acecqa.gov.au/national-quality-framework/the-national-quality-standard Nikinpa’s Quality Improvement Plan is available at the service for families to view and contribute to.
